Wm. Stuart Wood, CFP®

Stuart joined SolomonWood in 1996. He obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification in 2001. After graduating from McCallie School he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

“My grandfather went to UT and received the same degree. He encouraged me to consider this field because it would speak to the same part of my mind but offer more personal interaction,” Stuart said. “He was right.”

Mr. Wood, his wife Jonesy and three daughters, Nellie, Meyer and Edith live in St. Elmo where he is an officer in the Navy Reserve. He makes time for outdoor activities such as kayaking and rally racing.

Because his father and mother were expatriates, one of his favorite places to spend time is in the mountains of southeastern France. He has been traveling on his own to Europe since he was 17 and enjoys deepening his knowledge of the many cuisines and cultures there. From these experiences abroad, Stuart understands the highly specialized needs of an American citizen (expat) who earns money and/or owns property in another country and needs help with the tax implications for these foreign assets. Stuart has made this one of his specialties.
